Where FabMaster gear works

See real examples of FabMaster Workshop gear across South Africa, fitted out for steel construction, repairs, education and metalwork production. Use these job types to plan a bay for your work.

Fabrication job types we kit out

We set up fabrication bays for a wide range of South African jobs: heavy beams and columns in structural yards, trailer frames and chassis, gates and railings, sheetmetal for HVAC, agricultural implements, mining repairs, signage frames, office and retail furniture, automotive chassis, marine brackets, and more. Training and TVET college bays get dedicated layouts for welding, grinding and measuring practise.

Each industry has its own needs. Structural steel and trailer work call for high load benches, strong earth returns, and safe oxy-fuel cutting. Gates, signage and furniture shops need flexible clamping, soft jaws and layout accuracy. Mining and municipal workshops rely on mobile consumable carts and sturdy PPE stations for shift work and reactive repairs.

What changes between industries and locations

Job type affects more than the gear. Structural and trailer work use thick plate and sections, while signage, HVAC and furniture shops handle finer tube and sheet. Agricultural and mining repairs often mix heavy and light fabrication in the same bay. Production batch size matters: high volume shops need layout tables and jig kits for repeat accuracy, while repair bays need flexible benches and quick-change clamps.

Location makes a difference. Coastal humidity in Durban or Gqeberha means extra rust care for clamps and steel tops, while inland Highveld workshops face dust and static. Some jobs run on contract deadlines, others react to breakdowns. Power cuts can stop welding mid-joint, so plan safe restarts and work queues for your area.

How to use a job write-up for your own bay

A job write-up shows how others kit out bays for their work: which BenchMaster Pro or ClampRail sizes they use, how they organise PPE and consumables, and what fixtures match their material size. Compare layouts with your own shop to spot bottlenecks or missing kit.

Look for details that match your batch size, part types and daily flow. If you see a bay with tool or material storage that fits your jobs, note how they handle safe earth return, screening, and tip storage. Each write-up is a real-world example to guide your own planning, no two shops are the same, but a good fit leaves less to chance.

  • Match bench, clamp and cutting gear to your main jobs
  • Organise bays for your team size and shift pattern
  • Plan PPE and fire safety by bay type
