MeasureKit Fab
MeasureKit Fab gives your floor the right callipers, squares and weld gauges to keep work in spec, every shift. Built for production bays and training floors.
MeasureKit Fab suits production, training and repair
MeasureKit Fab is a hands-on measurement kit for steel fabrication, welding shops, TVET bays, maintenance workshops, and repair yards. Each kit supplies two sizes of callipers and engineer squares, a fillet weld gauge set, and a shift log card, all packed in a foam-lined case built for busy floors.
Reliable measurement is essential on jobs like pre-fab frames, custom trailer builds, site brackets, municipal repairs and TVET welding training. These are the tools fabricators need for checking part fit-up, tacking, fillet sizes, and squareness before signing off or moving to the next process.
- Workshop-grade 150 and 300 mm callipers
- 150 and 300 mm engineer squares
- Fillet weld gauge set with throat and leg checks
- Foam bay case for easy storage
- Shift log card for recording pre-weld checks

Pair MeasureKit Fab with your bay setup
Setting up a bay around MeasureKit Fab is straightforward. Keep the kit close to your BenchMaster Pro, ClampRail System or JigKit Modular so tools are always on hand for layout, tacking, and post-weld inspection. The foam case fits on a fab bench, shelf or Consumable Cart drawer for protection and quick access.
For efficient shopfloor flow, tag each kit to a bay or shift. Use the log card to note checks or nonconformance, which helps with shift handover and training. Instruct teams to check fillet sizes with the gauge set before final welding, and use the squares to confirm fence setups on Layout Table XL or when setting up templates on JigKit plates.
Safety, accuracy and conditions in South African workshops
Accurate measurement directly supports safety and compliance. SANS 2001-CS1 lists dimensional tolerances and fillet sizes for structural steelwork, so using the right callipers and gauges means fewer rejected welds and safer assemblies. The fillet gauge set checks both leg and throat to help you meet drawing requirements every time.
Workshops on the coast need to wipe down and oil tools to prevent rust, especially in Durban, Cape Town and Gqeberha. Highveld dust or workshop grit can clog calliper jaws or square edges, so keep the foam case closed and clean. Avoid dropping measuring gear on concrete floors. Never use squares or callipers as prybars or for marking, keep them for measuring only.
- Check calliper jaws for grit before use
- Wipe tools after hot work or grinding nearby
- Store gauges in the case to avoid knocks
- Log each check for traceability
How to check if MeasureKit Fab fits your floor
If your team often shares or loses measuring tools, or if weld sizes and squareness are a sticking point at inspection, a dedicated kit per bay sets a better standard. Look for worn or missing callipers, bent squares, or forgotten fillet gauges, these are all signs you need to re-issue or upgrade kits.
MeasureKit Fab helps on floors where the quality manager or training officer needs quick visual checks of both work and tools. If your jobs specify minimum welds or square setups, or if you run SAIW or ISO 3834 audits, the log card and complete gauge set make it easier to show compliance and keep records straight.
