Jigs

JigKit Modular

JigKit Modular gives fabricators a practical way to repeat frames, brackets and chassis sections without building fresh jigs for every job. Flexible plates, slots and angle blocks speed up changeover.

JigKit Modular

JigKit Modular is for repeatable frame, gate or chassis work

JigKit Modular is a set of steel jig plates, angle blocks and slotted stops for making repeat setups in the fabrication bay. With 6, 10 or 12 millimetre plates and 12 millimetre slots, JigKit is designed for fab yards building trailer frames, gates, box sections, automotive chassis and custom racks.

Instead of assembling frame jobs from scratch every time, you use the same plates and stops, set at fixed 30, 45, 60 or 90 degree angles. This keeps every weld and bracket in the right place, even across production runs or repair batches. Recipe tags help bay teams repeat a jig setup the same way on shift handover or for a new operator.

  • Repeat brackets or chassis sections fast
  • Change angles for specials or odd jobs
  • Keep jigs off the bench when grinding
  • Mark out setups with recipe tags

How to set up a bay with JigKit Modular

Start with a flat fab bench like the BenchMaster Pro, then add your JigKit plates on top. Slot in the angle blocks for the corners or joints you need, and clamp your stops into the plate slots. BenchMaster Pro’s 50 millimetre dog-hole grid and M10 earth studs give clean clamping, bolting and earthing points, so you build up your jig without welding it down.

JigKit pairs well with the ClampRail System to hold parts down, the Layout Table XL for larger jobs, and the MeasureKit Fab for checking fit-up as you go. Tag each recipe with a kanban card so the next shift or trainee can reset the jig by number. For odd shapes, use extra angle blocks or thickness tags from our fixture packs.

  • BenchMaster Pro bench as the base
  • ClampRail or dogs for hold-downs
  • Angle blocks and stops for joints
  • Recipe tags for repeat setups

Safety habits and local conditions for modular jigs

A safe jig bay means no stray earthing routes, tight clamps, and work clear of walkways. Connect the earth clamp close to the weld on clean metal, using either the M10 stud or straight to the part. Never route the welding return through the bench frame, angle blocks or jig plates outside the circuit.

Grind jigs and plates only at the GrindDeck Safe with screens up, as sparks travel metres and can start fires on wood or paper tags. Mark any damaged slots or bent plates for repair to prevent poor fit-up or pinched fingers. In coastal cities, check jig plates and clamps for rust every week, humidity attacks bare steel and clamp screws.

  • Keep earth close to workpiece
  • Inspect jig plates for damage
  • Clean bolts and slots after use
  • Store tags and blocks dry

How to check if JigKit Modular suits your fab floor

JigKit works best where you run repeat jobs or need to switch between frame types quickly. If your team builds trailers, gates or racks with multiple sections, a modular system saves you hours on each setup and reduces wasted steel from errors.

Walk through your current bay: if you have jigs welded to the table, loose angle blocks lying around or old templates hanging off shelves, it may be time to move to plates and slots that reset in minutes. Try one JigKit plate set with a small batch job first, then scale up to multiple bays if it works for your flow.

Send us a message with your part sketches or current jig photos, and we’ll help you pick the right plate thickness, angle blocks and tag packs for your jobs. You can see sample JigKit setups by appointment at any of our showrooms across South Africa.
