EarthBond Kit

What the EarthBond Kit is and which jobs it covers

The EarthBond Kit is a complete welding earth return gear set, with 35 or 50 mm² cable, 600 amp clamps, and both plate and stud bonding options. It is built for heavy-duty MIG, TIG, and stick bays where consistent arc starts and clear return paths matter. You get bay tags for quick ID and traceability, so you always know which cable goes with which workstation.

This kit is practical for trailer yards, mining and municipal maintenance shops, steelwork contractors, and training bays. It suits any floor where welders switch between jobs, move large parts, or need to keep earth paths short and labelled. The heavy clamps bite onto bright steel or fitted plates, while the return cable handles continuous duty on thick weldments or long runs.

Setting up a bay with EarthBond and pairing it with other gear

Fit the EarthBond Kit by bolting the plate or stud to a dedicated point on your BenchMaster Pro, layout table, or directly to the job. On large frames or trailers, clamp directly to clean steel near where you are welding. Use the bay tags to identify the cable and clamp for each zone, and log the setup on your shift card or with a printed bay map.

Pair the EarthBond Kit with the ClampRail System for quick part positioning, and use the JigKit Modular blocks to fix odd shapes tight to the bench. The earth return cable connects to the BenchMaster Pro’s M10 earth studs for a solid, repeatable bond. On training floors, include the EarthBond in your TrainBay Starter setup for clear earth routines and apprentice handover.

Safety rules and local shopfloor conditions to watch

Welding earth must clamp onto clean, bright metal as close to the weld as practical. Never route return through bearings, hinges, chains or shared bench frames. Always inspect cable ends and clamps for heat damage, rust, and frayed lugs, especially in coastal sites like Durban, Cape Town, or Gqeberha, where humidity speeds corrosion. In Highveld winters, watch for dust and keep contact points clean.

General Safety Regulation 9 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act covers basic welding safety and operator instruction. Use clear bay tags, keep earth cables clear of water and grinding sparks, and check all connections after a power cut or maintenance. Keep spare clamps and bonding plates in your Consumable Cart or tagged drawer for quick swaps.

How to check if this kit fits your floor

Walk your bays and check where welders clamp their earths now. If you see long cables running across the floor, return leads shared between jobs, or clamps with burned lugs, you are due for an upgrade. The EarthBond Kit shortens paths, labels every cable, and lets you log return checks on your shift card.

If your team works with large trailers, heavy plate, or often moves between zones, fit the plate or stud at each working spot. For fixed benches, use the BenchMaster’s M10 earth point for a clean, safe bond. Send us a message through our contact form if you need help mapping earth points or want a sample bay layout.
