EarthBond Kit specifications
The EarthBond Kit gives your welding bay a safe, repeatable earth return for MIG, TIG or stick, with clamp, cable and bonding options for most steelwork.
What the EarthBond Kit includes and why it matters
An earth return cable is more than a wire to complete the circuit. The EarthBond Kit uses 35 or 50 mm² cable, which allows you to run up to 600 A without overheating or voltage drop, matching common heavy-duty workshop welders. Each kit includes a 600 A clamp for solid contact, and both plate and stud bonding options so you can connect to either a clean workpiece or directly to a BenchMaster Pro’s M10 earth point.
Bay tags are supplied for clear identification, vital for workshops with shared equipment or training zones. All parts are rated and tagged according to their purpose, which supports safe workflow and meets General Safety Regulation 9 under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- 35 or 50 mm² welding return cable
- 600 A clamp with solid grip
- Bonding plate and M10 stud lugs
- Bay identification tags for tracking use
- For MIG, TIG and stick processes

Loads and materials suited to EarthBond Kit
The kit is built for structural steelwork, general fabrication, repairs, maintenance and training bays. It easily handles MIG, TIG or stick welding on mild steel, stainless, or aluminium (when using AC and proper cleaning). The 600 A clamp and heavy cable suit most yard machines running up to 500 A in full-shift use, even with long welds or high-duty cycles.
Avoid using this kit on small hobby welders below 160 A, or for very light sheet metal where a large clamp may distort thin material. Never use it for battery charging, arc gouging above 600 A, or in circuits where the earth cable must run through moving parts, bearings, or chains. Always clamp directly to the clean metal near the weld, and never rely on a return path through bench frames or hinges.
Choosing cable size and bonding options for your bay
For routine fab work up to 350 A, 35 mm² cable is usually enough. Go to 50 mm² for higher currents, longer cable runs or hot, dusty yards where cable temperature rises quickly. The 600 A clamp suits almost all yard work, but always check the machine’s rating and the weld process in use.
Use the M10 stud lug for BenchMaster Pro benches, or the plate lug for clamping directly to large steel parts. Tag each cable to track its bay and use, especially in multi-bay or apprentice training floors. Inspect lugs and clamp jaws for pitting, heat damage or rust, and replace as needed. If unsure which kit suits your yard, send us a message with your welder model and bay setup and we’ll advise.
