EarthBond Kit service
Keep your welding earth gear reliable with routine checks and practical field support. Our team helps you set up, inspect and maintain the EarthBond Kit for safe, repeatable welds.
Routine care to keep your EarthBond Kit reliable
Treat your welding earth return like any other safety-critical tool. Each day, give the clamp jaws and cable ends a wipe with a clean rag and check for heat marks or loose lugs. Once a week, inspect all return cables for exposed copper, cracked insulation, corrosion on lugs and screws and worn clamp springs. Make sure your M10 earth studs on BenchMaster Pro or the dedicated earth bond plate are tight and clear of paint, rust and spatter.
Monthly, check all kit tags, bay labels and the correct return cable size for each machine. In coastal towns, add a dab of anti-corrosion paste to the clamp screws and stud threads. Keep your EarthBond Kit gear off wet floors and away from metal shavings, and store spare clamps and cables on a rack or hook to avoid damage.
A fast daily check is worth more than a long hunt for a fault after a weld fails. Simple habits help prevent downtime and rework.
- Daily wipe-down of clamps and lugs
- Weekly inspection for cable and clamp damage
- Monthly check on tags, labels and cable sizes
- Use anti-corrosion paste in coastal areas
- Store gear dry and off the floor

Signs of trouble and what to check first
If a weld starts to spit, arc drifts or you see burn marks on the clamp, stop and check your earth return setup. First, confirm the clamp is clean, fully closed on bright bare metal and close to the weld area. If the cable feels hot along its length or you smell burning, the cable or lug could be damaged or undersized.
Welders often forget to clean the contact point or move the clamp after tacking, which leaves a poor return path. Double check that no return current is going through bench frames, hinges, or chains, and the cable is routed clear of moving parts or sharp corners. On BenchMaster Pro, always use the M10 stud, rather than only a magnet or quick clamp.
Some faults are small at first but can cause a full shutdown or rework later if left. Its better to strip, clean and refit a return now than risk a poor joint inspection down the line.
How to get help from our team
If your bay is giving trouble you can't solve, send us a message through our contact form. Include a clear photo of your clamp and return cable at the weld, your gear name (EarthBond Kit), and a short note of what changed or when the problem started.
Pictures of the workpiece, clamp jaws, cable run and where you connect the return point help us see what is going on. Tell us if you have swapped machines, changed the bench, or fitted new cables. We look at every message and one of our team will help you get sorted.
- Send photos of clamp and cable setup
- Write the gear name (EarthBond Kit)
- Describe what changed or when the problem started
- Mention if you swapped machines or cables
