PPE Station Bay
PPE Station Bay puts clear, labelled visors, gloves and hearing protection right at your fab bay entry for fast, safe shift starts every time.
What PPE Station Bay covers and who uses it
PPE Station Bay is a compact setup for fabrication and maintenance workshops needing ready access to eye, hand and hearing protection at each bay. Every unit comes with clear and shade visors, gloves in sizes S to XL, disposable plugs and earmuffs, and ISO-standard safety signs for welding, grinding and hot work. You choose wall-mount or free-standing format to suit your floor plan.
It fits the pace of steel yards, trailer shops, mining maintenance floors, agricultural repairers, HVAC fabricators, and TVET training bays. Short shifts, visitor inductions and moveable task teams all benefit from PPE that is visible, tidy and easy to grab at the gate, not buried at the back. Our station cuts wasted time and missed checks before jobs start.

Setting up your bay around the station
Mount PPE Station Bay at the main entry or end of your welding, grinding or layout zone. For busiest yards and colleges, pair one with each BenchMaster Pro or TrainBay Starter setup. The visor rack, glove slots and hearing packs should face traffic flow, within arm’s reach of the shift log card, but clear of sparks and cutting fumes.
Use the ISO-style safety signs to match your workshop’s main risks: arc flash, flying sparks, grinding noise or fume. For best floor control, add a MeasureKit Fab for quick pre-job checks, and a TorchBay Station or GrindDeck Safe in neighbouring bays. Tag each PPE station with your bay ID and update glove/visor sizes as teams change. Spare fixtures, like extra visor racks or glove hangers, help busy teams keep the bay stocked and orderly.
- Visor rack and glove slots labelled by size
- ISO safety signs for main fab risks
- Wall or stand-mount for flexible placement
- PPE habit cards for new or rotating teams
Safety points and South African workshop conditions
General Safety Regulation 9 under the Occupational Health and Safety Act says operators must be instructed in hazards and safe use of welding, grinding and flame cutting equipment. PPE Station Bay answers this by keeping clear or shade visors, gloves, and hearing protection at the point of use, visible for every user, every shift. ISO safety signage makes the minimum requirements plain for each zone.
South African floors see everything from Highveld winter dust to coastal humidity eating steel and glove racks. Check that visors are scratch-free and that glove packs are dry, especially in Durban or Gqeberha. Replace gloves and plugs as soon as stocks run low. Keep the PPE rack clear of spatter, oil and overspray. For hot or wet bays, stock extra glove sizes so nobody risks a poor fit during overtime or breakdowns.
How to check if PPE Station Bay fits your floor
Walk your shift change line: if operators double back to storerooms, or if PPE is missing at the bay gate, your floor can gain from a station by the entry. Check that glove sizes cover your largest and smallest team members. Pop the visor rack at eye level and label each slot clearly, as Aisha Moodley from our safety team recommends.
In TVET or training floors, set up a PPE Station Bay for each batch of learners, and use the habit cards to reinforce eye, hand and hearing protection before every weld or grind. If your bays see frequent visitor teams or rotating contractors, stations at each gate prevent bottlenecks and missed checks. For tailored advice, send us a message about your team size and floor layout.
- Operators should never hunt for PPE mid-shift
- Label sizes and restock daily
- Mount away from direct sparks or splatter
- Update signage if bay hazards change
