Workshop FAQ
Practical answers to common workshop questions from fab yards, repair shops and training floors across South Africa. Straightforward help for real jobs and real challenges.
Common fab floor questions we hear
What is the right bench or layout table for our work? If you’re building large frames, gates or trailers, the BenchMaster Pro or Layout Table XL both give a stable clamping grid with earth points and space for jigs. For smaller repair jobs, a single BenchMaster Pro bay with JigKit plates may be all you need.
How do we keep consumables and PPE organised? A ScrapRack Lane sorts offcuts and plate, while the Consumable Cart keeps discs, tips and filler rods secure in lockable drawers with kanban card tracking. The PPE Station Bay covers visors, gloves and hearing protection on a wall or stand mount.
What about welding safety and training? The OHS Act requires every hot work operator to have proper instruction, PPE and supervised work at all times. We supply TrainBay Starter for safe training zones and run hands-on sessions on safe welding, correct earth returns and grinder use. For gas safety, our TorchBay Station includes flashback arrestors, labelled racks and hose reels set up for safe cylinder and hose handling.

What to send us so we can help you
To give practical advice or quote on the right gear, layout or training, send us details using our contact form. The more info you share, the more accurate help we can give.
Photos, sketches or a short list of what you’re fabricating each week all help. Let us know your available floor space, number of bays or operators, and if you need training, tell us your main welding process (MIG, TIG or stick) and whether you have a supervisor or want us to run a starter safety session.
- Workshop or yard size in metres
- Type and thickness range of steel
- Current gear, benches and fixtures
- Number of operators or apprentices
- Any training or PPE needs
What happens after you send us a message
A FabMaster Workshop team member will review your info and get in touch to clarify details or discuss options. Depending on your request, we may suggest a bay visit, demo at one of our appointment showrooms, or a call to run through your needs.
For gear orders, we confirm specs before arranging courier delivery or collection. Returns or warranty queries follow the Consumer Protection Act. Training sessions are scheduled with your supervisor or ours, always under the OHS Act and site safety rules. Your information stays private under POPIA.
