ClampRail System

ClampRail System fixtures

ClampRail System fixtures anchor, align and hold steel for accurate welding and cutting on shop floors, training bays and batch lines. Choose the right fixture to suit your job and get reliable results every time.

Matching ClampRail fixtures to your job

ClampRail System fixtures are designed for fast, solid clamping on modular rails. Use our 18 mm clamp dogs for holding plate, angle iron or tube with up to 6 kN of force without crushing the work. Soft jaw packs protect aluminium, stainless or powder-coated parts from scratches. Serrated jaws grip scale, mill finish and thick section where slippage is a risk.

Angle block sets lock down 30, 45, 60 or 90 degree setups for frames, trusses and repetitive mitre jobs. Grid inserts drop into the rail pattern to anchor odd shapes or small brackets. For jobs needing multiple quick clamps along a beam or table, combine rails end to end and bolt down with our dog grid inserts. If you are batch welding gates, trailer chassis or brackets, fit recipe tags to your fixture layout to guide the team and reduce set-up errors.

  • 18 mm clamp dogs for plate, tube and angle
  • Soft jaw and serrated jaw packs
  • Angle block set in four standard angles
  • Dog grid inserts for custom clamp points
  • Recipe tag pack for repeat layouts

Setting up repeatable fixtures for batch runs

To get repeat results across shifts, start with a clear ClampRail layout on a flat bench or bay floor. Fit the rails parallel, lock them down, and double-check with a steel square from our MeasureKit Fab set. Mark each clamp point and angle block with a recipe tag, and keep a log card in the bay for changes or batch notes.

Use the same clamp style and dog at every station in the run. For jobs with several welders or teams, colour-code the jaw packs or insert angles. Always clamp work close to the weld zone and earth the part itself or use the BenchMaster Pro’s M10 studs for a clean return. If you swap jobs, tag and store each fixture set for easy re-rigging in the next batch.

Common fixture mistakes on the fab floor

We see jobs drift when teams mix clamp types or skip the angle blocks. Using timber, thin flats or unpadded G-clamps on steel rails can mar the work or slip during welding. Soft jaws are often left out, leading to scratched stainless or painted parts. Clamping too far from the weld, or using the bench frame as an earth return, risks arcing and heat damage.

Another mistake is over-tightening serrated jaws, which can crush thin wall tube or leave marks that need grinding. Store angle blocks and jaw packs off the floor and away from grinding sparks to avoid lost pieces and rust. Take time to clean the clamping faces and check for burrs between shifts for accurate, safe fixture performance.
