Kanban card set
The Kanban card set keeps your consumable carts, welding bays and training stations stocked for the next shift. Simple tags help keep restocking real and visible.
What the Kanban card set is and where it fits
Our Kanban card set is a fixture pack with physical cards for tagging your consumables, discs, tips, spares and PPE on the Consumable Cart or at the bay. Every card marks a minimum stock level or reorder point, based on the actual kit your team uses. Attach these cards to drawers, bins or rack slots, no software or barcode guns to worry about during a busy shift.
Fit the Kanban cards to FabMaster's Consumable Cart, JigKit Modular racks, PPE Station Bay, or even to your own shadow boards. The cards are made for the way South African fab shops actually work, whether you are running a Joburg steel yard, a municipal depot or a college training bay.

How to use Kanban cards to keep work flowing
A Kanban card lives in front of each item (discs, gloves, tips, wire or any daily spare). When your team takes the last item before hitting the reorder point, they pull the card and drop it in the restock tray or hand it to the charge hand. That triggers a top-up before the next job starts.
Set your card limits for what you actually run through in a shift or a week. Use plain text and marker so anyone can read it mid-weld. Print or write the part name, size, minimum quantity and supplier if you want. Rotate cards back to their bins after restocking, and update them when your bay changes over to new gear or a different wire size.
- Mark reorder points based on real usage, rather than only theory
- Place cards where the item is picked, not at the office
- Use clear text, no jargon or codes that confuse new hands
- Reset cards after restocking, don't leave them floating
- Update cards when your kit or suppliers change
Care, lost cards and common mistakes
Keep spare blank cards at the workshop for any changes. Lost or damaged cards are easy to replace if you keep a few in your shift log or supervisor folder. Clean off old marker before writing a new label, especially after a big job with a lot of hands on the cart.
Some teams make the slip of forgetting to reset cards after restocking, so the next shift thinks the cart is still short. Make it a habit to put cards back as soon as the item is topped up, and walk the bins at the end of the day. If you move bays around during a shutdown or update your racks, walk through the new layout and check cards are still matched to the right slots. For busy fab floors, it pays to put one person in charge of cards during the afternoon handover.
