Consumable Cart

Consumable Cart fixtures

Consumable Cart fixtures help keep your bay organised, with lockable storage, labelled slots and tags that cut time wasted on missing discs or lost tips.

Which fixtures fit this cart and when to use them

Our Consumable Cart takes lockable drawer dividers, disc size slots, thickness tag packs, tip board labels and kanban card sets. Use the drawer organisers for cutting discs, wire spools and tips where mixed sizes are common. The thickness tags and tip labels help teams pick the correct part in seconds, cutting mix-ups on shift handover, especially when you have new staff or apprentices. Kanban cards flag low stock without phone calls or guessing.

Soft jaw packs are handy for holding repairable fixtures like magnetic clamps or small spare nozzles near the top drawer. Add a visor rack extra if you're keeping spare shields for night shift, but keep PPE and hot consumables like tips in separate drawers to avoid contamination.

  • Drawer dividers for discs, wire, tips
  • Thickness tag pack for quick ID
  • Tip board labels for spares
  • Kanban cards for restocking signals
  • Optional visor rack for PPE spares

Setting up a repeatable arrangement for batches

For batch runs, start by mapping which consumables your welders and grinders use by process, MIG tips in drawer one, discs sorted by size in the next, gloves or shields in a top rack. Use the locking wheels to park the cart close to the main layout zone, out the grinder spark path, and within two metres of your PPE Station Bay.

Insert the kanban cards behind the last pack or disc in each section so the first person to run low triggers the reorder. Mark each slot or divider with a thickness tag, so even when you're tired or swapping jobs in a hurry, the correct part goes back in the right place. Don't forget to check label wear every few months, especially if the cart moves between bays.

Mistakes we see and how to avoid them

The most common slip is letting consumables pile up loose in one drawer, crew end up grabbing the wrong disc or running short when you really need a specific tip. Another issue is skipping the use of tags and labels, so new team members waste time opening every drawer. Keeping the cart too close to the grind zone lets dust and sparks contaminate stock, and storing PPE with abrasives shortens glove and visor life.

Do not overload the top drawer with heavy grinders or leave the cart unlocked during the shift change, small tips and clamps go missing, and your restock records will go out of sync. Lock wheels before opening more than one drawer at a time to stop the cart tipping.

  • Avoid mixing PPE and hot consumables
  • Lock wheels before opening drawers
  • Do not overload top drawers
  • Use all tags and labels for quick ID
