TorchBay Station

TorchBay Station specifications

TorchBay Station brings oxy-fuel, LPG and plasma torch work together in one managed bay fitted for South African fabrication shops and training floors.

How each TorchBay Station specification works on the floor

TorchBay Station is built for serious torch work, combining cutting, prep and safe storage all within a 1.2 by 0.8 metre footprint. The spring-return hose reels keep oxy, LPG and plasma lines tidy, reducing trip hazards and preventing the usual tangle behind benches. The labelled tip rack saves time when swapping between plate sizes or switching from piercing to clean edge cutting.

PPE stays clearly at hand on the dedicated hook rail, so visors and gloves don't land on cut sheets or get splashed. This small detail keeps workshop safety up, especially with shared bays or busy shifts. Labeled racks and clear zones help new operators or apprentices get their bearings fast.

  • Supports oxy-fuel, LPG and plasma torches
  • Spring-return reels for fast hose control
  • Labelled tip rack for clear tool swaps

Loads, materials and processes for TorchBay Station

TorchBay is set up for cutting mild steel, stainless and aluminium sheet, plate and tube using hand torches. Most yards use it for prepping 2 to 16 mm plate and tube up to 150 mm, but you can run thicker or larger work if your extraction or screens are up for it. Heavier cutting jobs need extra fume control and bigger fire screens.

The bay isn't meant for full-time cutting of heavy beams or cast iron. Avoid setting up gas bottles or plasma supplies for simultaneous use in one bay, stick to one process per operator for safety. Always keep gas bottles upright and chained, and check hoses for burns and loose fittings according to SANS 10019 and the Pressure Equipment Regulations.

Sizing and choosing your bay options

Measure up your available floor space and check walkways for safe hose movement before specifying your TorchBay Station. The 1.2 by 0.8 metre footprint suits most shopfloor cut zones, training bays or mobile welding teams with a fixed station. For high-turnover yards, consider adding a second tip rack or PPE hook set for shift work.

If you handle regular cutting on plates over 2.4 metres, make sure the bay layout gives clear paths and leaves enough room for fire-resistant screens and spark guards. For advice on adapting TorchBay to your shop, send us a message with a rough floor sketch and your main processes.
