ScrapRack Lane

ScrapRack Lane service

ScrapRack Lane keeps your offcuts safe, sorted and ready to use. Our service covers routine care, checks and support for clean, organised scrap storage.

Routine care for ScrapRack Lane

A tidy ScrapRack Lane makes the difference between safe yards and scattered hazards. Daily, clear out loose debris and check that every piece of scrap sits within its lane. Weekly, confirm tags for thickness and colour are in place and visible, and sweep under the rack for nails, washers or small cut-offs.

Once a month, inspect the rack for bent uprights, surface rust, loose bolts and worn-out tags. Coastal shops should spray moving parts and tag holders with a light anti-rust oil. Maintain the 120 mm fork clearance under every lane to avoid damage during forklift or bakkie loading. If your rack sits outdoors, keep it under a cover or at least tilt scrap to drain off rainwater.

  • Daily: remove debris, check lanes
  • Weekly: inspect tags, sweep below
  • Monthly: check frame, oil parts, test clearance

Spotting trouble and what to check first

If offcuts pile up next to the rack or tags go missing, that is your first warning something needs fixing. Watch for scrap stacked too high, pieces jammed in the wrong lane, or paint flaking on the rack frame. Lanes with sticky movement or rusted guide rails are early signs of coastal corrosion or Highveld dust buildup.

Also check for missing thickness markers or broken welds at the base. A sudden gap in scrap thicknesses or odd bits stored outside the rack usually points to staff confusion, wrong tagging, or a training gap. Use a torch to check for hidden shards or burrs where hands reach in.

How to contact us for support

If your ScrapRack Lane starts giving trouble or you want a tune-up, send us a message using our contact form. Please include clear photos of the whole rack and any damaged spots, plus the gear family name and bay location.

Describe any changes, like new scrap types, more traffic, or recent moves. The more detail you share, the easier it is for our team to suggest fixes, training or field visits. We can guide you on best practice for sorting, tag packs, replacement parts or staff refresher training.

  • Send us clear photos of the rack and damage
  • State gear name and bay location
  • Explain recent changes or problems
