How to care for your Consumable Cart

Looking after your Consumable Cart is straightforward if you keep to a set routine. Regular checks keep it safe, organised and ready for every shift, especially when stock levels change fast or teams rotate.

A well-kept cart means less downtime hunting for discs, tips or wire, and keeps your bay tidy. Stick to these intervals for best results.

  • Daily: Wipe surfaces, check discs and PPE stock, lock drawers at shift end.
  • Weekly: Inspect wheel brakes, check for loose handles or damage, clear dust and debris from slots.
  • Monthly: Clean foam case, check Kanban cards, test drawer locks, look for rust especially in coastal areas.
  • Quarterly: Review stock usage with crews, refresh thickness tags and labels, inspect for wear on wheels or casters.

Spotting problems and what to check first

If you notice drawers jamming, wheels sticking, or missing Kanban cards, act sooner rather than later. Watch for unusual noises when moving the cart or if items are hard to find.

First, check that drawers are not overloaded or blocked by loose discs. Confirm the brakes are free and casters turn easily. Look for cracks, worn handles or signs of forced entry. On the Highveld, dust in drawer runners is common. In Durban or Gqeberha, check for early rust on screws and wheel brackets after a wet week.

If the cart is leaving marks on the floor or feels unstable, check all wheels are tight and the frame is straight. Missing labels or Kanban cards can cause stock-outs and confusion.

How to reach us for Consumable Cart support

If you run into anything you cannot sort out, send us a message through our contact form for direct help. To speed up support, include your cart's gear name, a short summary of what changed, and clear photos showing the problem area.

Photos help us spot issues like drawer alignment, label mix-ups or wear on wheels. Let us know if the cart is in a shared, outdoor or coastal bay, or if you have changed how stock is handled recently. We can advise on spare parts, layout tweaks or on-site service as needed.
