BenchMaster Pro

BenchMaster Pro fixtures

BenchMaster Pro fixtures turn the fabrication bench into a practical setup for batch welding, layout and safe handling. Choose the right tools for repeatable, reliable work.

Which fixtures fit BenchMaster Pro and when to use them

BenchMaster Pro benches take our 50 mm dog-grid fixtures built for heavy fabrication, angle blocks, dog inserts, earth bond plates, soft jaw packs, spark skirt kits and square fence kits. These slot directly into the grid holes, locking tight for accurate setups.

Use angle blocks and dog inserts for holding repeated corners and joints, especially on frames and gates. The square fence kit lines up sheet or box work fast, while soft jaws protect bright metals or painted parts. Earth bond plates let you bolt welding returns direct to the bench at any grid point. The spark skirt kit adds lower edge protection when heavy grinding or gouging.

  • Angle block set: fast, accurate corners
  • Dog grid inserts: repeatable stops and clamping
  • Earth bond plates: safe, direct welding return
  • Soft jaw packs: protect surface finishes
  • Square fence kit: align long or large pieces

Setting up a repeatable fixture arrangement

For batch work, measure and mark your first piece, then lock the angle blocks and grid dogs tight before tacking. Use labelled recipe tags from our JigKit Modular packs to record the setup and speed up changeovers on shift.

Keep the earth return clamp close to the weld zone, bolted to a clean earth bond plate. For each batch, check that all fixed points are square and clean before loading the next workpiece. When swapping between assemblies, store loose fixtures in foam trays or on a nearby rack to avoid mixing up setups.

  • Check fixture squareness before each run
  • Record batch setups with recipe tags
  • Store loose parts in trays, not under the bench

Common mistakes with fixtures on the fab floor

We see teams using oversized clamps in grid holes or skipping the earth connection, this risks movement or arc blow. Never run your welding return through the bench frame or a neighbouring bay. Clamp directly to the earth bond plate or, for big jobs, to the part itself.

Leaving off the spark skirt exposes boots and cables to hot grindings, especially with high-speed tools. Another miss is working without checking for bent angle blocks or missing grid dogs, leading to twist in repetitive welds. Always inspect fixture condition before starting up, and keep spares on hand for shift swaps.

  • Never clamp return through the bench frame
  • Use spark skirts when grinding heavy
  • Inspect and replace bent or missing fixtures
