Fixture
Visor rack extra
The visor rack extra fixture adds extra slots for clear and shade visors at your PPE station bay, keeping shields organised and easy to reach during busy shifts.
What the visor rack extra is and where it fits
The visor rack extra is a steel add-on fixture designed to expand visor storage at any FabMaster Workshop PPE Station Bay. Each rack adds five more slots for face shields, whether clear or shade, so crews always find clean visors on hand during shift change or busy jobs. This fixture bolts directly to the standard PPE Station Bay frame or can be wall-mounted for satellite PPE points in larger shops and training floors.
It fits all FabMaster PPE Station Bay models, wall or stand mount, and matches the slot spacing for our standard S to XL visor range. Welders, grinders, and visitors will see at a glance which visors are ready, which ones need cleaning or replacement, and where each shield belongs after a job. Coastal yards, maintenance teams, and TVET training bays often add extra racks to match crew numbers or when running concurrent welding and grinding zones.

How to use the visor rack extra effectively
For best results, assign a slot to each operator or shift. Use the supplied visor labels for size and shade, and clip them to the rack so everyone sees what's available. Make sure racks are mounted at eye level and within easy reach of the main zone entrance or the welding bay itself.
Keep aisles around the rack clear. Do nightly checks for cracked, scratched or missing visors, and swap out damaged shields before the next crew arrives. Where you have learners or visitors, post a quick visor use diagram nearby to back up safety briefings. It's easy to forget to tag new visors, but this helps track usage and keeps PPE audits quick. If you run out of slots, just bolt on another rack in minutes.
The visor rack extra can also hold welding helmet shells temporarily, but don't overload with gear not meant for the slot size.
- Assign each slot to a person or shift
- Mount rack at main bay entrance or PPE point
- Label visor types and sizes
- Check for damage each shift
- Keep rack clear of clutter
Care, spares and mistakes to avoid
Wipe the visor rack with a damp cloth weekly to remove dust and grinding grit, especially after heavy work. In coastal regions like Durban or Gqeberha, apply a light oil to the fixings to prevent rust. Check that all slot dividers remain tight and replace missing label clips from our spare parts pack. If you find a slot gets bent after a heavy knock, unbolt the rack and straighten it gently in a vise before refitting.
Common mistakes include overloading racks with too many visors, mixing up shade levels, or letting used shields pile up at the end of a shift. Always use the right slot for each size and keep old cracked shields off the rack. When you need more capacity, just add another visor rack extra instead of stacking visors sideways or leaving them on benches.
