Layout Table XL specifications
Layout Table XL is a 3-metre heavy-duty fabrication table for accurate layout, fit-up, and assembly of full frames, structures, and large fabrications.
What the Layout Table XL specifications mean for your workshop
The 3000 x 1500 millimetre top gives you enough surface to lay out and assemble door frames, fence panels, balustrades, trailers, or full-length steel structures. The thick steel top resists heat distortion and denting from tacking, clamping, and light hammer work.
The square fence kit bolts onto the table to set up a true 90-degree corner, so you can keep frames straight and joints tight while you measure, clamp, or weld. Metric and imperial measuring rails make it easy for teams to work off marked lengths or switch between drawing units without confusion.
Adjustable feet let you level the table on uneven concrete, keeping measurements true across the length of the frame. This is vital for bay floors that slope to a drain or have been patched over the years.

Loads, materials and processes suited to the XL
Layout Table XL is built for heavy fabrications and batch work in steel, aluminium, or stainless. The frame and top support typical full-frame assemblies up to 600 kg spread evenly, but always check for local high loads if you’re clamping fixtures or using jigs at the table ends.
It is ideal for tacking, layout marking, and light sub-assembly. You can run oxy-fuel, MIG, TIG or stick welding processes on the XL, as well as grinding and fit-up. For very hot work or heavy hammering, use a dedicated anvil, not the layout table surface.
Avoid using the XL for small intricate jobs where a bench with a finer dog-hole grid or a lighter fixture plate is better. Similarly, jobs needing over 3 metres or extremely high point loads might require a modular extension or a dedicated fixture bench.
- Full-size steel or aluminium frames
- Panel gates, balustrades, and railings
- Equipment skids and base frames
- Batch jigs with square corners
- Light to medium welding, marking, and clamping
Choosing the right options and sizing your bay
Measure your available bay space before choosing the XL: allow at least 1.2 metres clear on all sides for safe movement of stock and trolleys. The table ships with adjustable feet as standard, but check if you need extra-high feet for a sloping floor or want to bolt the frame down.
Order the square fence kit and measuring rails if you want fast, repeatable setups for batches or training. For high humidity areas like Durban or Gqeberha, keep steel tops and fence rails wiped down and lightly oiled to prevent rust, especially in summer. Use colour tags or magnetic markers to keep job stages and dimensions visible to the whole crew.
